Pregnancy is a beautiful thing. It’s an out-of-body experience where you feel the miracle of life growing inside of you. You may find the changes in your body difficult but once you feel your baby’s first kick and succeeding movements, you will fully embrace this season of life with open arms. The beautiful thing about it is that you can bond with your little one even before he or she is born!
According to Carista Luminare-Rosen, PhD, author of “Parenting Begins Before Conception: A Guide to Preparing Body, Mind, and Spirit for You and Your Future Child,” studies show that babies already have emotional and intuitive abilities to feel their parents’ love even if they’re still inside the womb. This is also affirmed by Luminare-Rosen, founder and co-director of The Center for Creative Parenting, who said, “Prenates can see, hear, feel, remember, taste, and think before birth.”
This kind of close, healthy attachment between a mum and her child contributes to the personality development of the child. It also helps the baby in perceiving that the world is a safe place because of the trust that was formed between the child and the parent.
When you provide a peaceful environment for your baby, he or she will feel loved and wanted. They feel what you feel. Thus, it is important that you try to be calm and relaxed as much as you can. Prenates can also respond while they are still in the womb so talk to your baby, sing to him, massage your bump, nudge back when she kicks — there are many ways you can connect with your child.
